A portion of this article was published in issue #42 of WPT Poker Magazine. Hands down, the Sit and Go has been the most significant innovation to come out of online poker. A Sit and Go is the only way you can experience every phase of a poker tournament in under an hour at any buy-in and never wait for a starting time. Poker success should begin with three important personality traits; intelligence, discipline and confidence.

Many entrepreneurs agree on the point to use poker tricks in their businesses. They are not even able to soar high in their business, but they took it to the next level of achievement. 1. Quick learners endure the survival of the fittest!

When ambition hits passion, a force develops to keep you focused on the goal you will achieve. If you wish to have your firm or enterprise and you are an amateur poker player, then there is nothing better than forgetting all the old theories and concepts and learn something afresh. When you have a will to progress, nothing can stop you from achieving your goal. You join hands with the people who share the same values and thoughts. You meet new people who too have a burning desire to be a top-notch name. You come up with new perspectives and see the world with a new pair of mindsets.

You will turn to some expert advice, and there is nothing you cannot get over the internet. The training sessions, forums, guides, and tools to amplify your horizons are all available at your service. If you are keen to learn online poker games or want to set several businesses online, then you can learn all of it effectively and quickly. Quick learning is something that drives the race of successful people in the world. Once you start digging deep and play online poker games, you will learn and admit that quick learning helps a lot in tournaments as well as in business.

2. Make a relevant decision.

In poker, we know our cards and the cards of the community. The aim is to make the best decision possible with the details available. You can consider other parameters, such as your position at the table, the style of game of the player, whether you already know how your opponents are playing, the number of chips you have left. The more data you have, the better decision you will make. In poker, you can never have 100% of the details (when you have 100%, it’s too late.) Indeed, neither you know about your opponent’s cards, nor you know about the next cards the dealer would hand out.

Waiting for the right solution or getting all the knowledge at your disposal to make a decision is not feasible. To make the correct decision, you must be able to collect the full details and do your best. This is what business is about: you may not have all the details, but you still have to make choices.

Gambling is a way of buying hope on credit.

3. Manage your money.

You need to be careful at the kind of tables you play online poker. You don’t want to play more games than you can play. If you have a hundred dollars in your bank account, don’t enter tournaments with an entrance fee of 100 or 200 dollars. Go to a game with an entry fee of, for example, 10 or 20 dollars. You will be more stressed about playing too much, and you won’t be as successful because it’s too dangerous. This will help you learn how to invest and smartly use your money to grow without taking risks that could lead to financial ruin.

For startups, this is the same. Many begin with crowdfunding, and their money needs to be handled well. Money management issues are one of the key reasons why startups are struggling, and you are more likely to succeed by mastering it. Even if your startup is sponsored, learning how to handle your investment and not spending more than you need is vital. They can go bankrupt on the funds if the money is not taken care of properly.

4. Understand the long-term concept.

The value of the long-term is essential in poker. There is no need to win fifty hands and make a poor decision at one step and lose it all. You need to think long-term while playing poker, and not just settle on short-term thought. Risk-taking is certainly a part of poker, but they should be calculated. It will last hours for a poker game or tournament (if it isn’t days).

The concept of long-term planning is quintessential for any entrepreneur. You can’t just think about your startup in the short term by aiming for exponential growth. You will need to have a long-term vision and think about the business’s sustainability. For example, you don’t just want to concentrate on attracting new clients, and you want to keep them as well. You don’t want to have a good startup for 1 year and then struggle. You want it to sustain for the next five years and more.

The entrepreneurs who are interested in online poker games have skills proven to be helpful in the long-term of any startup journey. They become comparatively agile, manage money effectively, make challenging decisions in a snap of the finger, they sit perfectly in the definition of visionaries, and are utterly courageous. If you play poker for a long time, you can adapt all the qualities, and it is not necessary to be a high-ranked player also.

1. Study all aspects of the game

Studying the game of poker is crucial if you want to learn how to succeed as a professional online poker player.

When you think you have learned all there is to learn about poker, you need to study and research even more.

In fact, you should never stop learning because standing still in this game means you're going to be left behind.

Read articles on PokerNews, check out the 10 most important poker strategy books ever written, join a poker training site, or hire a coach. Any edge you can create for yourself will eventually lead to profits.

You can also practice Texas holdem and pot limit Omaha cash games and tournaments for free on the WSOP Poker app.

The games are completely free to play, meaning you can play poker for fun, try new things, play online poker with friends and never risk any of your bankroll.

2. Prove you're a winning player

Remember how we said that handing in your notice and jumping straight into being a professional poker player isn't a good idea?

This is one of the main reasons why: you need to prove to yourself you know how to be a profitable online poker player first.

Many people bag a big score in a poker tournament, or win the equivalent of two months' wages at the cash tables and start thinking that this game is an easy way to make a living.

Wrong!

You need tens of thousands of cash game hands and tournaments (if not hundreds of thousands) to prove you're a winning player.

If you're not a winning poker player over the long term, you'll soon be heading back to your old boss cap-in-hand hoping to be reemployed.

3. Be realistic

Once you've ascertained that you're a winning poker player, it's time to begin trying to figure out how many poker hands or tournaments you'll need to play in order at least to match your previous salary.

Here's where many people fail.

When you have a salaried job, you are usually paid on the same date every month regardless of how productive your week or month is (within reason). You're almost certainly paid while on vacation, or if you're sick.

Are you really going to sit grinding for 60 hours every week?

The fact you have to go to work five days per week is probably enough to make you get out of bed and go to your job. But what if none of that was true?

You may have aspirations of making $150,000 a year, and that may be possible. But make sure you factor in at least three full weeks 'holiday.'

You should also plan for being sick and unable to play for a couple of weeks per year. Also, ask yourself — are you really going to sit grinding for 60 hours every week?

Do you think you can make enough money at $0.25/$0.50 to warrant giving up your job?

Do you know how many online poker pros are there who wake up at 12:00 p.m., play online poker for two hours, and then swan off enjoying life to the max?

The answer is not many. And those who do generally don't succeed as professional online poker players for any meaningful length of time.

4. Give playing poker professionally a trial run

Even if you have done all of the above, you should at least give playing for a living a trial run, so you have experience of how to play online poker professionally.

Take a week's holiday from your job and spend the next five working days doing nothing but playing poker (at least you'll be getting paid even if you have a bad week!).

You may surprise yourself at how difficult it is to motivate yourself to play poker non-stop for a week.

Or how after four hours grinding you suddenly lose all concentration.

Or how after losing 15 buy-ins during the first three days you no longer want to get out of bed at 7:00 a.m.

It's best to find out you're not cut out for the life of a poker pro before you take the plunge into playing for a living.

5. Build a big bankroll and liferoll

How To Be Successful In Online Poker Tournaments For Beginners

You have gone through all the previous steps but still think you know how to be an online poker pro. That's fine, but do you have a bankroll and your other finances in order?

Most poker pros like to have at least six months' worth of life expenses tucked away in a separate bank account in case things go pear-shaped.

Dipping into your poker bankroll to cover your bills is a big no-no.

Your bankroll should be larger than a recreational player would have because you never want to drop down in stakes.

Doing so, dropping down that is, makes it harder to reach your monetary goals — much harder. It's better to be a bankroll nit than it is going broke.

6. Act professionally

Professional poker players often cite the freedom it gives them for playing for a living, but that's not to say you shouldn't have a professional attitude towards the job.

Some of the best poker players in the world are extremely disciplined and in their approach every single day.

You wouldn't rock up to work and put your feet on the desk or lounge around on the sofa with your laptop, so don't do it as a poker pro. How to become a professional poker player?

Starting acting like one, a professional that is.
